I am currently a lay Buddhist who has taken the Eight Precepts and am resident at Buu Mon Buddhist Temple working towards becoming a full time monk, typically this is called an anagarika. Until mid-September, I studied with the Most Venerable Phap Nahn at Lien Hoa Monastery to learn various Pali chants. While there I also worked to improve my meditation practice and increase my study of the Dhamma in the more monastic environment. My ordination date is scheduled for November 1, 2009 at the Kathina celebration at Phap Luan Temple in Houston, Texas. I have dreams of bringing Buddhism into the 21st century via technology and computers. I have several projects down the line that I am working on, one of which is already finished: kassapa.org. I had temporarily became a monk at Buu Mon Buddhist Temple in Port Arthur, Texas during the Kathina celebration on October 29, 2007. The name given to me was Sucāra in the language of Pali, which means “good conduct.” I sincerely believe that we need to have more well designed sites about Buddhism and I hope to be able to create many in the future as I progress through my training and get more time to focus on projects.
